Default Duration of 997 ownership

For those whose ownership is decided by choice, for how many years will you (or did you) own your 997? (please don't poll if you had to sell for financial reasons, divorce, kids, etc.).

If you care to post, please indicate what it will take to get you out of your 997 - new 911? Ferrari? etc.

I was actually sitting at a light today next to a cherry 16 year old 1995 E36 M3 and thinking, would I still be driving my 997 11 years from now...and said to myself, why the f**k not?

Loss of job would force me to sell my car.

Hopefully significantly over 10 years. My last two cars purchased new have exceeded 185K miles . . . but were significantly lower performance cars with American cast iron block and heads.

So far I've had three 997's. The first two for about a year each. The third going on 2 months now.

Owned my 3.2 Carrera for 14 years, the 996 for 8, the Boxster S lasted 2. I expect to keep my Carrera S for at least 10. In fact, depending on what happens with cars over the next decade, it might be much longer,

26 years and counting on my 1985 Carrera and no end in sight; hope to enjoy my 2011 carrera at least 10 years.

As much as I like my 997, life is short and there are many other cars that I would like to own someday. So for better or for worse, eventually I will sell it and try something different. I would guess that I will probably own it for about 10 years.

Planning to keep it for my kids, unless it falls apart, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

I still have a little over 4 years left on my CPO. I'll keep it through that time frame unless I buy a friend's PDK.

Damn, that brings back memories. Grayling - northern Canada, catching them like crazy as they move up river. Lots of fun fishing those northern Alberta and BC rivers.

I'm keeping it until I have to have a left knee replacement. Then it's on to a PDK.

I'm counting on Porsche to make the next one so desirable that it makes mine obsolete.

If not....I still love 'ya baby.
