Why is VW copying Porsche? I still think VW is out to destroy Porsche....or milk it for everything it's worth and then toss it aside. Hope I'm wrong.

Porsche, small, exclusive and then among the most profitable car makers in the world, tries to buy big VW and gets eaten in the process. The Board of Directors, CEO and CFO who hatched and tried to execute that plan should be sentenced to driving beetles for the rest of their natural lives.

Back when the first Black Editions were announced, it was like a page from the VW "Wolfsburg Edition" playbook.
This Beetle Black Edition is a different marketing strategy, however. Rather than add content and badging for the run-out of a model to keep it interesting, they are cultivating interest in a model that has yet to go on sale.
Gotta say, those wheels don't look bad on the car above, and the GTI treatment on this Black Edition model will make for a fun drive.
