good price - I just bought one from them for $1k - great piece of mind too - if you get in between dealers, a flat really is a SUPER drag, www.porscheeveryday.com notwithstanding!

What's the max recommended speed with the spare?
I've just been through this sort of incident this past weekend, 400 miles from home.
If you use the standard provided goop to repair and get going again, it's 50 mph top speed, and you don't need to remove the wheel to do the repair.
I guess carrying a spare gives you even more peace of mine, for instance if you damaged a tire that was beyong goop (Fix-a-flat) repair. Is it worth carrying a spare? That's for you to decide.

Are there any spare tire mounted-on-wheel solutions that would fit in the frunk of a 2006 C4 with nav?

I wouldn't mind a spare tire solution other than the fix-a-flat/air pump thing that comes standard, but I don't want something strapped into the back seat. That could become a deadly missile in an accident. I'd prefer something that could be mounted in the frunk, but in a C4 with nav, frunk space is at a premium, and I'm not sure anything would even fit in there.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

My suspicion is that this great solution fits 997.1 C2 and C2S and 997.2 C2 only.

Of course Sod's law dictates that I drive a 997.2 C2S. Anyone ever managed to fit this spare wheel over the larger brakes on the 997.2 C2S?

Aren't the brakes on the 997.1 C2S and the 997.2 C2S the same?

No, I don't think so. I've yet to find anyone who says they've managed to fit this spare to a 997.2 C2S. Plenty of 997.1s on the other hand.

I'd like to hear of someone who has (with a 997.2) because then I'd be content to buy a spare wheel. Anyone out there?

I bought mine from Suncoast and it is a great confidence builder for road trips. Behind the driver's seat, it sacrifices no interior seating. I bet Suncoast will tell you whether a 997.1 like mine will fit a 997.2 like yours. I believe it will fit, but they will know.

Pics of kit that comes with 997.2 C4S in Guatemala: http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...cs-inside.html - interesting that his spare actually mounts in the frunk with a factory bolt.

Looks like the same bits Suncoast is selling and that I finally bought.

Some older spare tire mounting info that I found suggested using a spacer for mounting the spare on the front (only in front in fact - move a good front to rear if necessary) - my car has spacers and the pre-inflated type spare fits - I need to try this compact version of the spare, but it appears there would be more clearance. A PDF I found that shows the filled tire for "911 Carrera, Targa" and collapsible tire for "911 Carrera 4, C4S" - doesn't mention needing spacers nor using the spare only on the front. However, I have to assume that PDF is dated if a Targa was not a WB "4" car at the time - could be a 996 doc - http://coochas.com/porsche/Resources...sibleSpare.pdf

I guess for the ".2 S", maybe you can talk to the guy in Guate and see what the owners manual has to say about it. Hard to imagine they sell a car that way if it won't work - although equally hard to imagine cars with no spare tire.

I posted my Roadside Assistance saga - some may recall - and I just found this one - sounds way way too familiar http://cnypca.org/Newsletters/RedlineV53-4.pdf (page 32).
