Default Should I buy this car?

Hi. The time has come for me to get serious about buying my second 911.

Should I buy this car and what is the most I should pay? See below for the link. Lets assume the PPI turns up no issues. Any advice will be appreciated. I was also considering spending more on a lower mileage example.

I may have already insulted the owner by offering $35,000.

Ideally, I want a Carrera S with Manual transmission, Sport seats and PCCBs with Blue Exterior and Tan Leather...

Maximum budget is around $43,000. I would love to spend less though.

I don't see this happening. But the car in the link doesn't look bad. If a PPI checks out, it has a good DME readout and you can get it for $35k I'd be tempted. Keep in mind that when it hits the 100k mark the value may take a big hit.

Hey, roughly 10% below asking price isn't a bad place to start. He's got to expect some negotiation. Car's been driven nearly 12K per year, not bad. Let us know what develops.

Definitely do a PPI, this seems awfully cheap to me.

The interior looks a bit rough to me... and maybe owned by a smoker?
Have you seen it in person?

Thanks to all who replied.

As an update, the owner noted that he had other interested buyers with better offers so I decided to let the car go. I may feel better about spending more on a car with lower miles anyway. There are a few low mile examples within my budget on Autotrader. Maybe not with PCCB, but in truth, I would never use them to the point where they would exceed the capabilities of steel.

The search continues for a Manual Carrera S Coupe.

As an unrelated question, Any thoughts on the values of these cars since they are the last to be made by Porsche, rather than VW Group?

I wonder if they will be revered like the 993.

Regarding your last thought, only if somehow all previous model Porsches were destroyed.

Honestly, the 997 (or 996) will never be revered like the 993.

Seek out a good car. Buy it for a good price. Drive it. Take care of it. If you end up owning it until it becomes an valuable collector car and it sells for a bazillion dollars, well that's a bonus.

But even if it doesn't turn into a valuable collector car, you will have had the fun and enjoyment of driving a very fine automobile. And by buying used you saved some money compared to someone who bought the same car new.

Sincerely,

Macster.
