Mine doesn't have it, but I missed it this winter when there was a lot of salt on the road. At those times, with snow falling, and the rear defroster on, the salt dried on the rear window making it useless for visibility.

That's the only time I missed it; no problem without it in the rain going forward.

One of the things I LOVE about my Porsche is the visibility; never driven a car with better visibility all around.

It rains here a lot, so definetely good to have the rear wiper !

I don't understand why people almost hate the looks... But to each his own...

I don't have it and don't need it but I actually like the looks of it.
Something very Euro about it.
The first 911 I saw that I loved was on a trip to Europe and saw a red 911 with the back wipe in a narrow street in Amsterdam after a morning rain.
The guy drove off and wiped the rear window and I thought that was just so cool.
I guess scarred for life from that moment.

Thanks.
My -06 came with a rear wiper which I removed. That's how I feel about it....

I have it on mine and I am glad that I have it. It's extremely useful when you are backing up with a foggy rear window or in the light rain. Plus I really don't think it looks bad at all. I would definitely include it if I was ordering a new 911.

None on my car. Does not seem necessary and it adds nothing to the look, in my opinion. I am not sure I would avoid a car with a rear wiper, but I would think twice.

No problems ever with a clean back window. Wiper not needed.

It's the one option I wish I'd purchased. I live in the NE and drive year-round. Even light snow obscures rear visibility in stop and go traffic. As snow only increases the risk of being rear-ended, I like to know what's behind me.

I agree with this.

I happen to like the look of the rear wiper and would not order one without it. It would also hinder me from buying a pre-owned one without a wiper.

It is very helpful when driving slowly and maneuvering in reverse.

I had a 993 for 5 years as a daily driver with the rear wiper. At speed, the window did not really shead water, it just sat there. At slow speeds water definitely accumulated and the wiper was helpful. Personally, I wished it had an intermittent setting as it would have been quite functional then. It is not something you really need continuously, just a wipe or two was generally sufficient. I look at it as a GM type option, something you probably need that they want YOU to pay for and you are not sure if it is worth it. My current 964 has a wiper but my 997 does not. Typically, I don't drive these cars much in bad weather. I like the wiper very much.
