How is your engine so clean on top? the intake manifolds look like they came straight from the factory. Do you clean them?

These types of posts should not be allowed. I was so content to love the "pure" stock car I had, until I saw this. Thanks Phil & Dan.

Thanks Joel! Sorry I missed answering your question earlier.

I probably have about 8 hrs in doing the full exhaust and intake.

Headers by themselves could be done in a little over an hour if you don't have rusty hardware.

Intake takes a little futsing and fiddling with to adapt to a stock S motor, and of course you need to be very careful with the layout for the hole in the engine lid. Would be a major bummer to mess that up.

The air box retails for about $3400.

Headers about $900.

I was able to do a little better than that finding an air box that a shop had been sitting on for awhile.

The car is used in fair weather only. No rain, snow, sleet, any of that. It just never gets dirty back there.

Phil that airbox looks lovely man!
So when you talk about cutting you actually mean cutting the steel/aluminum engine cover? Yikes. How did you do this, tools, template?

Hi Bruce. Yeah, it's a great looking addition to the engine bay. Thanks.

Yes, I cut the second hole in the engine lid for the second cold air intake. The lid is reinforced plastic of some sort, not metal. I used a dremel tool to make the cut and grind to fit.

There was no template. I had figure out placement and size of the cut-out on my own. Not too difficult, but a bit nerve ratcheting.

Thanks for stopping by!

Phil
