Default 7% under msrp ?

This weekend my dealer offered me a price for a new p-car at 7% under MSRP? Your opinions are welcomed...

In this economy? You can do even better.

What type of P-car w/ what type of options? If the dealer came at you w/ 7% off you have to wonder how much better you can do? I have no clue, counter w/~15% off and find a middle somewhere if you're truly interested.

depends on what model you want. 7% on GTS is as good as I have heard. On a C2 or C2S maybe you can do better.

Getting quotes on a 997TT and so far only 4%
The cars are very hard to find and this will be on an ordered car. Many dealers I talked with do not and could not get an allocation to build slot.
Any thoughts?

my recent experience is that numerous dealers on Ebay will do better than that.

Is the car in stock, or will you order it? They'll normally deal at bit more with a car sitting on the lot.

C2S should be more discount than that, especially if it is something that is atypical on the lot that might be perceived as harder to sell (some colors, for example).

It's an incentive paid by the manufacturer to the dealer to sell particular models. You may or may not personally benefit from the incentive depending on how you negotiate. It's easy enough to find out what's being offered by checking out sites like http://www.truecar.com/
