GT3 RS Envy

I'd take the RS all day long. You can get them with silver like trim or just delete the whole graphics pkg. Go down to the GT3 997 forum and look for Jenk12's 2011 or Trackcar and Izzones GT3RS cars...those to me are what a 911 Porsche is all about!

It's just the reality of the modern Porsche 911 lineup (and expensive cars in general) -- once you reach a certain price threshold there's no longer an unqualified "better" or "worse" to be found. Each Porsche aims for excellence in its own area with little regard for the others.
For a livable street car that dominates the stoplight drag race scene you can't top a Turbo S. For a track rat that sees some street time in between weekends nothing can touch the GT3 RS. For the epitome of exotic appeal and bragging rights only the GT2/RS will do. Nothing else is even remotely like the Targas.
There is no "best." There's only what's best for you.

Why can't Porsche make both in one? Why can't there be a track rat that also dominates the stoplight drag race? When the Z06 first came out it beat the Turbo in both categories, if I recall correctly.

GT2 RS is its own beast but that comes at the expense of forced induction instead of a naturally aspirated engine. It's all compromises beyond a certain point.
The things that make the GT3 sublime on the track make it miserable in a parking deck. I just don't think it's realistic to have it all.
That said -- the 911 in general comes the closest to having it all as any car I've ever seen.

IMHO, they're sort of at cross purposes. If you tried to make the GT3 a better straight-line performer you'd have to compromise its track performance. You'd be tempted to adjust gearing or maybe even move to 4WD for better off-the-line traction. No thanks!
