Default I've Accepted the Fact, That Scratches are Unavoidable...

I've owned my 911 since 2009. I've always been very careful with her. No dings or rock chips. Aside from the inevitable swirl marks on the clear coat, which I have been able to polish off, my car is pretty flawless. Until yesterday...

While using my powerwasher, I was trying to uncoil the dang hose, when I inadvertently got too close to my driver side door, causing the uncoiling hose to brush against the door, leaving a 2 inch gash on the clear coat.

It was noticeable to me, more so because I have a racing green metallic paint. Fortunately, going through with my polisher seemed to have made the scratch less noticeable.

I've accepted the fact, that things happen. It's just a car. No big deal. I guess I'm just venting. :-)

It's a healthy threshold to cross. Once you stop obsessing about every little nick or scratch, you enjoy the car even more.

This is healthy.
I am amazed at the difference in my "sensitivity" toward my car's appearance since switching from Black to Silver.

sad, but it happens - I have two little blemishes now as well - no one else would probably notice, so I count them as "adding character".

Car ownership corollary: The longer you own the car, the less dirty or perfect it appears to have to be.

LOL I did the same thing. There I was washing the car with my fluffy towels that I keep perfectly grit free and cycle through 6 different towels as I wash so that I don't drag anything across the paint, and I grab my washer wand to rinse off the car and swing the head of the wand straight into the door. *scrunch* big scratch. Oh well.

It was noticeable to me, more so because I have a racing green metallic paint.
Post Pics! I love green Porsches.

Washing the car is dangerous - I hit a hood once ( '81 Toyota) and hope that lesson sticks; I still get really paranoid using the pressure washer...always try to hold the wand with two hands (one toward the tip) in case the pressure drops...and I need a longer hose too I think to keep the whole thing further from the car...

Wrinkles and hair loss - they only happen to others. I know that for a fact.

Now, my arms have been growing longer.

My ears are getting bigger. I googled this and found out this "Dumbo Effect" is also a sign of aging. Doesn't bother me as much as dents and scratches, though.
