I would agree with alexb76, do you track or not? When I bought mine this is a big fact with me. The extra HP/TQ down low helps to pull out of corners and on the straights. Pair that with larger brakes and it was a no brainer for me. So, if you track the car, I would be leaning towards the S for that. If you don't track the car and don't plan to, but which ever one you like best but the reality is those little differences in HP and brakes won't be noticed on the street. I test drove a Carrera before buying my Carrera S and I can say, there wasn't a big difference at all between the two cars on the street.

I just went through a similar decision, and as I won't be tracking the car I went with the low mileage 2007 C2 (11K miles). Picked it up last week. It's my first P-car, so I'm perfectly comfortable starting here and eventually moving into a C2S or a turbo in the future. For the last several years I've driven mostly Japanese products, great reliability but no soul. The Porsche is a completely unique driving experience, and if it's your first P-car I think you will be happy with either choice.

The great thing about the low milage 07 is the closed to new car feel but it will be gone in another 10,000 miles or so. The S goodies however, would stay way beyond. Haven't made up my mind but a bit more on the 06 C2S at this point.

I also went throught a similar descision. I had to choose between a 09 C4S Targa, that was missing a fair amount of options/ less desriable color. Vs a Fully loaded C4 Targa in the exact color and every option i needed/wanted. I test drove both, and really could not tell a big difference between the two. I also will never track my Porsche.

Last month I tilted towards an '08 C2S red/blk vs. an '06 C2 blk/blk with lower miles and more options at the same price. It was a no brainer for me because the '08 was in better/near new condition even with higher miles; + PPI and DME was clean, and 1.5 years of original warranty plus 2 years of CPO. Deals are out there if you continue to look. Oh yeah, my wife wanted red brakes... Darn, I had to get the S to appease her. Half the fun is in the hunt... just continue the search until you find the "one" and you no longer have any doubts about it... then enjoy the ride!
