Wow - great to see the final product. Very nice work!

Brings back memories for me - I used to love doing plastic model kits.

I'd love to pick one of these kits up.

But it was the complexity of the decals that ultimately kept calling to me, I had to see if I had the skills to pull it off.

Maybe in a few months I'll buy another kit and build it with a different racing livery. But for now I'm happy with the way it turned out.

http://www.renaissance-models.com/1-...e/tk24_014.htm

there are a million different options for models. If you dont like the livery there is always decal kits you can pick up. seems this is the only 997 kit so far that ive found. You can always hunt ebay for little pieces, wheels or decal kits. I know it may not be 997 but it can always be used on any model. I got thinking of buying a martini decal kit and making a 997 martini or http://www.renaissance-models.com/1-...e/tk24_030.htm

there are many different choices to be found with alittle searching. Coming into the winter months now i may just buy a couple of these and make different versions for my collection.

or 996 versions are everywhere http://www.renaissance-models.com/1-...e/tk24_186.htm bunch of companies that make nice models are tamiya, fujimi, Revell just to name a few

Don't mean to threadjack, but if you are looking for something a little easier to build, try this for fun! I just picked it up a couple of months ago at Toys R Us. It's 1/18th size

My hubby builds models for a living. He always uses warm water with "Decal-Set" and "Solva-set" for applying decals. Makes it pretty easy. He's built hundreds over the years and a bunch for Jerry......

Is there an engine to construct and is the bay detailed? Same with suspension?

Rob says he's not sure on the 997 kit, but FUJIMI kits in the past have always had serious suspension and engine details....including pistons and cams.....that you will never see after it's built!

A kit with that level of detail I'd be inclined to leave the engine out of the bay and display separately. I'm going to check this out. Thanks!
