Thing to do is to save the stock system and then swap before trading/selling the car. People pay good money for used after market exhausts.

Played one dealer over the other and also mentioned I might have both the Carrera S and Audi Q7 serviced at their location in the future. This dealer was where I originally came across some of the big discounts that Porsche was allowing. This dealer is situated in an area of $300,000 homes while the other dealer is located in an area of $2,000,000 + homes.

dude, relax...
I DO like PSE. I have it on my current and previous cars. I had to replace one side on my 996, and it was expensive - that's all
in actuality, I was commending you for stepping up and going PSE as opposed ot a number of 3rd party/lighter options
you're right though, I don't know what you paid, and frankly I don't care either - enjoy.

Look if you don't think it is a bargain too bad go buy what ever you want. You don't even have a clue what I paid which was even far less then Suncoast. If some of you have no interest in the PSE exhaust why are you so fast to respond negatively to a post related to the PSE. I myself prefer this exhaust since it is from Porsche and it has the option of the off and on switch on the center console.

Great purchase, worth the wait. As others suggested, you might want to get Carnewal's controller instead of spending the money to fully install the PSE - keep in mind that due to the stupid Euro rules, even with the full install, when "On", it will cut out between something like 35-55 mph (sorry, I don't remember this exactly). I bought PSE twice, for my 996 and my 997S (both were "On"
all the time). My TT has a Milltek system, nice but still not quite as fulfilling as PSE on a NA car.

If your 997 is equipped with the PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust) system it quiets down between 45 kph and 75 kph (28-47 mph) to comply with strict Swiss noise abatement regulations.

With the full factory PSE set up the drop in volume was not due to European regulations--it was all due to Switzerland. They have highly restrictive sound regulations.

Mike--When I compared a PSE-equipped 997S to a non-PSE equipped (stock) 997S with a sound meter I got virtually no difference between them when it comes to the decibel readings. This was at several hard RPM settings. I think it's done in a very special way that ultimately sounds pleasant to the car people, but doesn't actually result in any obnoxious higher dB readings. Also, your MY09 car is an entirely different critter when it comes to the PSE (a totally reengineered system) so a direct comparison between the two may not be valid. Also, with the DI engines, Porsche may very well have met the Swiss standards without resorting to a special attenuation routine between 45 ad 75 kph.

Dan, you're probably right on all counts. I just know that I can't tell any difference in the exhaust note in those speed ranges in my car. Then too, my hearing isn't what it used to be.

Aren't we discussing two distinct elements of the PSE exhausts? Loudness on one hand and on the other, the actual exhaust note or tone? I don't think Porsche intended PSE to be 'louder' but rather sportier or aggressive sounding. The 997.2 stock exhaust has a rather annoying raspy sound at low RPM and the PSE appears to eliminate that.
Anyway, it sound like you guys are referring to two different things.

$2,300 is a good price. With the coupon Suncoast came in just a little under that price including the switch and face plate. Got it to me in a little over a week or so. Ask for Ric if you call.
