Default 9500ix Hardwire Tutorial?

Looking for any info on how to hardwire a Escort 9500ix into a 997. From what I understand, you can run the cable around the windshield into the fuse box, but I'm not sure how to get it around the dash and into the box without it being unsightly. I'm also not sure if I should just use the included suction mount or use something that attaches more securely (saw something that mounts to the rear view mirror). Any help is appreciated.

I hard wired mine into the overhead light. It turns on and off with the car, i dont have to worry abour forgetting to turn it of. I tried the rear view mirror mount but it did not fit properley and inhibited the range of travel for adjusting the mirror. i went back to suction cups, its up very high on my windscreen, difficult to see, and if i lower the sun visor it covers the unit up.
cheers

There are a number of hardwire procedures described that can be found with a good search!

Here was my take on it which I adapted from someone else's write up: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...smartcord.html

Dave, quick question.

I love my Escort's mute button on the smart cord, it makes it very easy to turn off for false alarms and for me it's right behind gear shift and easy access.

With your hardwiring, do you lose that functionality? so for every mute you have to reach out to the windshield?

Yes, the way I set it up I do not use that button but instead reach up to the detector. I thought about putting the button on the left side of the dash but then opted not to include it.

Funny thing is that in my current 997 I haven't yet transferred my harness from the last car to hardwire the Escort in! Maybe I'll motivate this weekend....it's been 2 years!

I actually saw your tutorial, however, I was kind of hopping to find a way to wire it up to the overhead light instead.

Any tutorials around for that? I hate poking around without some kind of plan.
