Default Airbag light on after drver airbag removal and refit

2005 Porsche 911 Carrera S with Chrono pack.
I removed the steering wheel. After refitting and reconnecting the driver airbag, the airbag warning light stays on all the time for a few days now. Is this normal and something have to be reset in the computer, or do I have a fault. I had another car marque that I have fiddled with, which had to have the computer reset after airbag removal.
Thanks, Allan

Did you disconnect the battery during the process (I hope you did)?

Sounds like a sensor fault.

I hope he did too - last thing I'd want to be working around is an airbag with the battery still connected...and disconnecting will eliminate any fault lights assuming everything was reconnected correctly.

Yes I disconnected the battery before unclipping the airbag electrical connector from the steering column.
So my question is, does disconnecting and re connecting the driver airbag in a 997 trigger the airbag light to stay on, and does this need to be reset in the computer? If not, then I have a fault.

With the battery disconnected, R&I of the airbag should not cause the fault light.
