Default Looking for 997 Carrera S

Hello everyone,

I am currently in the market for a low mileage 997 Carrera S, preferably 2006 and up. If anyone sees a a car that matches this description it would be highly appreciated if you could send it my way. Also any tips on the buying process and how to deal with buying a car when your not there in person would help tremendously. Thank you

Try bring-a-trailer, marketplace and PCA Mart.

Thank you for the reply. I’m actually always on the lookout on those marketplaces. I’m wondering if there is maybe another less know marketplace that I don’t know about.

Best bet is to look every night at all platforms inckuding Atuotrader, cargurus etc. The market is so hot right now they don't stay up for long.

There are numerous threads in this forum of owners posting pics about their cars. Spend the time to go through them and contact the owners individually and beat the proverbial bushes. You will come up with some sellers who are not actively advertising their cars. Good luck!

PS: mine is not for sale.

Network locally. You may already have P-car friends or work colleagues. Check out the local Porsche club. These peeps know when someone local is selling - or thinking about selling their car. They will also know if the person cared for the car or trashed it. Good luck! I just purchased my first 911 locally from a friend of a friend. Ended up buying a 2006 C2 manual w/ 42k miles for $35k.

Will do. I just checked one out not to far from me and was sold a few minutes after I arrived to someone who got there before me.

Another question for you guys
If I wanted to add a finders fee to my search for a +2006 Carrera S what is a reasonable number people normally pay for something like that?

In my year-long search for my 997 S I visited many sites regularly. I like autotempest because it pulls from a lot of locations. Interface is not great but it is faster than going to each site.

For lesser know listings I found craigslist and offer up had some choices. These are often people just looking to sell and not really focusing on the fact that it is a Porsche (ie may get a better deal). Eventually, I found my car on eBay. It was a private listing with a buy it now that was too high but after it ended and it did not sell I reached out and we worked a deal.

Good luck with your search!

I bet every 997 on this forum is for sale for the right price. I have sold multiple cars that were not for sale at car shows and on forums by getting offers that I wouldn't pass on.

Here's a list I used when looking for my 2 997s. Ended up finding both of them private party though. This is an old list and some of these places may no longer exist, but might find you something advertised in a less well known place.

Holt and UDrive typically have very nice low mileage cars with pricing to match
