Default Oil Filter Adapter

Is anyone using this aftermarket spin on oil filter from Automotion.

I have one and now need to replace the filter. I'm wondering if there is a
best replacement filter and if others agree thar the plastic OEM is
feeble.

I can't remember where I saw it, but someone was denied warranty coverage for an oil issue using a spin-on adapter. Of course YMMV depending on the dealer.

When I recently bought some 987.2 filters, the whole assembly-filter, o-ring, and plastic housing- was about $5.00 more than the filter alone. I'm just going to replace the whole thing for that money.

I can believe that Porsche would try to avoid honoring a warranty claim based on the use of this spin on adapter. But only because they look for any excuse to deny claims . But I can tell you that on an after warranty basis I use one of these. In my opinion the spin on filter are much better than the OEM cartridge type.

Porsche seems to have gone back to the old cartridge system because it looks "green" not because of effectiveness.

Yours looks like the adapter from LN Engineering http://www.lnengineering.com/spinonfilteradapter.html

I have the adapter and use the recommended Napa Gold filter. They also recommend the Mobil 1 or KN filters.

They also address the warranty issue on the website.
