Default It's my birthday -- cool gift

Look what I received for my birthday. It's very cool. I thought these were painted plastic but it isn't. The working part is plastic just like the regular gas cap but the top is an embossed metal shell. Comes with a tether just like the regular one too. It's a great, detailed Porsche touch!

I was looking at one of those but was put off as when I reread the description it sounded like it was painted plastic.

An expensive piece of painted plastic.

Does it run any faster? It must be heavier, as it has a metal clad, isn't it?

Ah! it comes with 100-octane gas! Is it also ethanol-free?

If the allen head bolts are real it should be pretty easy to remove them and the outer shell to see what it's really made of. BTW, Happy Birthday!

From reading the other threads it looks like this one is the real deal aluminium one. The arrows are either side of the writing rather than closer to the center.

I think that the OP's cap is the OEM's metal-clad unit. The real metal one is this one:

I still think it adds weight.

Ummm, now that does look good.

I'm not worried by a couple of extra ounces on a car that weighs over 3000 lbs if it puts a smile on my face when I'm filling her up.

That's the slippery slope... one doughnut at a time.

I'll just put 7/8 of a tank of fuel in, that will save a few kilos and I'll get to look at the cap even more. Win Win.

Who cares what its made of. You can't even see it unless you're filling the car up and then only you can see it. Complete waste of money in my opinion.
As a gift I guess it's kind of cool, but never would i spend my own money on something like this.

It's installed now. The car is definitely faster...and chicks dig it.

I like it. It was a thoughtful gift for a sports car enthusiast.
