Angry Aluminum gas cap

I just received my $150 aluminum gas cap. What a piece of crap!!!! I am not one to care about spending money so I am keeping it but man for 150 bucks this thing is a total rip off. It is the same plastic gas cap that comes with the car painted to look like it is metal. So if I were you I would skip this add on as it is nothing short of a insult at that price. This should be a 50 dollar item MAX!!! Again I don't care about the money I just feel like I have been ROBED!

So it's plastic, not aluminum? I would send it back... that's insane. It's not like the Audi where you can see the gas cap... it's hidden anyway.

Send it back, and thanks, I was about to order one myself. Another rip off is the Porsche Tire Gauge. The dial one with the long black hose and chrome case. Get this, the calibration marks are totally unreadable! Between 30-40psi are 4 tick marks! How are you supposed to know where 32 or 33 or 34 are? Who the heck designed that, a graphic artist? Biggest waste of $40. Now I use a cheapo digital I got from Costco. Here's a pic of it...

now THATS funny.

even thought its probably outsourced to another company, the real problem is that porsche let their name get on that PoS.

rediculous... another example, albiet small, that the company has been out of racing too long

The gas cap is genuine "Aluminum Look," which is Porschespeak for "Painted Plastic."

You might aswell get a can of "aluminium-look" silver paint from your local DIY store and spray your black one.

I still don't understand that since it's hidden under the gas cover anyway... but whatever.

Isn't metal gas cap heavier then plastic? Saves weight : ). But at $150-what a joke. I could paint it myself. Regards. Mike

And what would your dealer charge you to install it, $50?
