Default AWE or Fabspeed?

I'd like to get some replacement mufflers for my 2005s.
I've pretty much narrowed down the choices to AWE or Fabspeed but am open to any suggestion.
I'd appreciate getting some opinions from those that have either one installed.
(Muffler only and not a complete exhaust)

The goal is strictly better sound. (Totally subjective, I know)
I'm looking for something that has a nice deep rumble at idle and sounds meaty when driving in a sane manor. My car doesn't see 6500 rpm often... I want to avoid at all costs something that sounds like the fart cans I hear on some other brands of cars.

Ideally if there is someone in Connecticut or close by that has either one installed that would consider letting me have a listen...

Thanks

I have the the Maxflo Mufflers with the 200 Cell Cats. I think it is the sound you want. Love the sound. It is the best thing I have done to my car. The only negitive to the Fabspeeds is there is droning at 80+ MPH on the highway. Hope my short video helps.

Thanks for that Jim. I've donated to the Human fund.
The drone concerns me as I have a cab.

From what I've heard Fabspeed is deeper than AWE. The deepest sound is Borla. They all make a great product. I have Tubi which is raspier...more Euro sounding and not what you described.

I had Fabspeed in a 2006 Cab and 2007 Coupe...there was some exhaust sound cruising on the highway...some call it a drone sound but it was not too excessive. Tubi has zero drone at 2000-3000rpm cruising on the highway but really barks nicely when given throttle.

Hope this helps.

Don't flame, if you disagree. But, my indy (who's very reputable and got a Daytona team) has installed a few Fabspeeds per customer requests and he wasn't much of a fan last time I acquired about exhaust... AWE was great on Audi, but not sure about Porsche.

I can attest to that. Tubi is the priciest but the best.

What was said about Borla being deeper in tone interests me. Can anyone backup what Mike says?

after 3 years in current car I would simply vote for cheapest used one can find on the market.
when you stand and listen to all those cars for a while on a track with modded exhaust after 1 hour you cannot say no more where is awe, where is borla, it all blends the same. i kinda like my car now as its voice is subdued with stock mufflers and if possible I would like to keep same level of noise but loose extra weight of stock mufflers. unfortunately it does not seem to be any product for that purpose, well, short of bypass pipes but I am not ready for that plus it will not pass sound limit at any of my local tracks.

Keep those opinions coming folks. No flaming going on here.
I'm interested in everyones subjective preferences and the reasons behind their choice.
After all, I have to wait for the snow to leave first anyway....

Thanks

Have the Maxflow with cold air intake. The only thing I know about that is: I am not looking to change that sound any time soon.

Does anyone have the Technical Service Bulletin for how to fit the PSE?

I'm sure I can work out what needs wiring to what and the physical installation of the exhausts but how do you route the wires from the engine bay to the console?

I'm currently trying to decide between just the Tubi silencers or the full PSE.

There is a new Tubi silencer that replaces the stock PSE silencers and has actuators and a bypass pipe but it's very expensive at about $3600

I put Fabspeeds on my non-S Monday. Love them so far - definitely “deeper” sounding than stock, which is what I was going for. I now find myself double clutch downshifting just for the sound… And they were a really simple swap of the original equipment.
I was also on the fence between AWE and Fabspeed but decided AWE exhausts were too quiet. And personally, I could still probably use a little more sound out of mine, but there are cats, headers and intake down the line if you want to go that route.

Going to auto-X it this Saturday and hope the new sound impresses the ladies!

Upshift

I think we are of one mind.
Did you install yourself? On the ground?
