Default powerkit airbox

has anybody tried putting the airbox for the powerkit on an ordinary carrera S? You reckon there will be a change in the sound or power of the car from this simple bolt on upgrade?

Not sure it's "simple" nor "bolt on" - major $'s to get this done - parts and decklid modification for little or no power increase. I doubt there is a change in sound either.

No sound change--just more breathing. But you have to be prepared to do some cutting of the internals of the deck lid. (Nothing that will really show). Also, the price of that puppy has really climbed.

$3,395.00 at Suncoast now. Yikes! You can DIY the install no problem.

IMO it's the only air intake mod that's actually an improvement over stock (most are much worse), but no way is it worth the $$$.

"orange cap" and "gundo hack" are the two mods with really good value.

Don't do that orange cup thing! It's supposedly a "cold air" kit....these things are already cold air kits. The air entering the system comes directly from outside the engine area.

A couple of years ago that X51 airbox was about $1950--don't know why they went up that much.
