Default Is this a good price for an 06

Its on CL, 2006 C4S with Aero Kit, Park Sensors, Tiptronic (I dont want a manual coz of wife) - Now here's the tricky part, 3800 miles on it (thirty eight hundred), asking $59.9 .. Is this a good price ? I think the car would be out of warranty, is it advisable to buy a porsche out of warranty

thanks guys

I'd be careful with 6 year old car with such low mileage. First, it could have been rolled back. Second, if it's true mileage, you never know what gremlins are awating once you start diving it more. Due to the well known IMS\RMS issues, when it comes to those motors, I prefer a car with 30K rather than 3K. Others might disagree.
good luck

sounds good to me. I just got into an '08, that was CPO'd and warranty is now good through 2014, it had 2800 miles on it. love it

I'll take low miles over high miles any day

paid $53k last year for an 06 C2S with the aero kit and about 17,000 miles. You're paying a premium for the C4, but it sounds in the ballpark.

Nothing wrong with a low mileage car. Most folks I know with these cars just store them in garages when not in use. Mine sites in a heated garage all winter and this winter is a bad one out here in the North East. Try and test drive it before buying, I'm sure it's fine. Best of Luck with the hunt for one of these fine machines.

almost $60K for an '06 car is way too much IMHO no matter what milage it has, plus, if car literally was not moving around for years, well, I am not sure if it is very good.

as of 'coz of wife' - assess very carefully how often (if ever) she drives your car. buy what you want for yourself or buy her a car she wants for herself, IMHO.

+1 on That ^!

A few years ago, three different guys on the 996 Forum bought a 996 with a Tip, "coz of wife." All three admitted they wanted a manual. Each of them reported back that after driving the car, "the wife" either....... didn't like driving it, or......... won't drive it because it rode too rough, or...... didn't like it because it sat too low. All three of them ended up with a Tip they didn't want in the first place.

Just saying.....

Excellence magazine prices the 2006 C4S from $40,300 to $54,000 so it's quite a premium over that. I've been looking for a 996 or 997 for a few weeks now and almost all of them have been priced over the Excellence guide so either the guide's off, sellers are asking too much, or there's enough demand right now that seller's are getting these prices.

I would think mid-40's would be more in line for a tip car.
The upside to tip cars are it unlikey to have over-rev's (ask for a DME read out when you get it inspected), and you get to keep both hands on the wheel.

+1. I was thinking exactly the same thing and ended up with the manual after driving the tip several times.

Just keep in mind that one issue about low mileage cars is that they never got broken in--and infant mortality issues in the car never came up to be fixed under warranty.

This, alone, is one of Porsche AG's tricks at having such a stellar reliability record for their cars--many simply never are driven enough to cause problem parts to fail. Eventually, when a real owner drives the heck out of the car they get stuck with the repair bills. But Porsche's record remains clean.

Excellence is most often lower than market pricing. I'm not sure where they get their estimates from but most owners that write in end up paying over the guide's recommendation. I can't believe all those folks are stupid.
