Default STILL loud noises from removable hardtop even after dry lubing.

I am at wits end on this. I dry lubed the rubber around the front of the hardtop where it meets the front windshield area. I'm getting some terrible sounds from that area only. Sound like grinding cracking glass sometimes even without hitting bumps like just turning it happens. If I release the hand lever catch to loosen the top it goes away. Should I go to a liquid lube like WD40 or something. I'm so frustrated with it. HELP!

It's my belief that this increases over time as the rubber seals there age. I am experiencing the same. Originally, it was very quiet. Now, it creaks. I think the rubber shrinks up.

It's my understanding that a lot of things shrink with age!

Also more lube might be required with age. Did the OP use enough lube?

You should use a silicon based spray lube on rubber seals

Here's what I use for my HT seals: http://www.handa-accessories.com/hig...su-Grease.html

It's a gel that you rub in and makes the seals pliable w/o being greasy(notwithstanding its name). You can buy it at any Honda dealer.

Do not use petroleum based lubes on the seals. It will make them a gummy mess over a short time.

It's a message from God telling you to bag the hardtop and keep the cool look of the soft top all through the winter

I never liked the look of the hardtop and after a few winters never used it again.

I had an issue with my 07 Targa and appied Sealcoat.

No creaks now. Give it a shot if you have not yet.
