Afraid you're going to have to wait for your parts guy - there are 4 different versions so he'll need your VIN to make sure you get the correct one.

Many thanks to the last 2 posts. Hopefully I will finalize all the numbers this week and have the car with SC by next weekend. Going to miss the M5 but looking forward to a 997.2.

Hate to bump an old thread, but I was talking to the dealer about this, and he was talking about 1200 for the INSTALL (plus parts) on this, as they had to take the interior apart to run wires, etc..

My understanding is that it is mostly a software update, and plugging in a few switches in the front console.

How much should this be (about) parts and labor?

The total I paid was $1500, parts and labor on a 997.2. $1200 for the software and new switch panel, $300 labor. Sounds like the dealer hasn't done it before or is overinflating the cost. It only took 1.5 hours for the install and programming

I had the sport mode retrofit intalled by the dealer on my 08 c2s today... about an hour of labor with taxes it was about $144--i used the 20% coupon to order the parts/retrofit and with taxes it was a little over $900.00

I kind of love it... Not for serious racing but when you feel like a bit of speed... it really gets aggressive and to me it's like driving two different vehicles...flys through rpms!!!

i have to say that for a little over a thousand dollars it's really a great way to dial up the fun... tech said that it changes the mapping, increases the oxygen, adjust both psm and pasm so it's a synchronized choreography of the porsche systems...

even though mines a mt i still would highly recommend....

bst...
After tossing this around for about a year, I finally ordered this from my dealer for my 2011 Cayman with PDK. Looking forward to the install next week.

I have a tiptronic and had this installed and it's absolutely worth the cost. Although it adds no power, but it does improve the driving dynamics of the car. The shift-points and especially starting off in first gear is terrific.

I was told that I was the first done by my dealership too. They did a great job in the end tho I had to show the Service Writer the Suncoast website and pricing. He quoted me about twice the Suncoast price for parts. ( I threatened to drive to Florida for the install).

All the trim etc came with the kit as far as I could determine. Make sure though that you get all the additional PCM controls that sport-sport plus gives you. You get this with the sport programming but it has to be activated by the dealer. It is a minor issue as you have more control over some light timers and the wipers as well as Launch Control but my Service Writer claims I don't get this programming. Suncoast's write up of the sport software says he is wrong. six months later we are still arguing.

Any feedback from anyone who installed this on a base 997.1 w/manual transmission?

Yes. I posted above, but I'll tell you the shift points are much sharper and at higher rpms; when the car stops it down shifts to first gear when in auto mode. Overall, it's worth the cost as it improves the driving dynamics and you lose that sluggish shifting in both manual and auto mode.

I'm very happy with it. I just wish I didn't have to push the button on start-up and wish it could always be in Sport mode.

He was specifically asking about cars with a manual transmission.

Sport mode doesn't really do anything significant with manual transmission cars. Nothing you can't do by just wearing a slightly heavier shoe, at least.
