Default 997.1TT vs. 997.2TT....

What are the basic differences and improvements?

Thinking of trading my PTT (the Black Beluga) for a .2 997 TT

opinions clearly welcome.

You probably would get a good answer in the 997Turbo forum. But I would love to see a pic of your Beluga, please.

very big difference!

.1TT has the old GT1 block engine, whereas .2TT has the new engine (don't know what it is called).

The new motor is the 3.8 9A1 motor and its VERY good,
but put two blowers on it and match it up with the PDK, and I cant imagine what a 997.2 TT with PDK must be like. I drove the first 997.1 TTs and it is a
VERY refined sports car. BUT with these PDKs the thing must be a ROCKET. As an engineer my guess would be that the 997.2 would pull ahead of the 997.1 in a drag race because of the PDK. It shifts SO fast you would gain 5-10 feet on every shift over the 997.1
I saw more than that in my 997.2 C2S racing a 996 TT. On every shift the 997.2 pulled ahead of the 996 TT until we shut down at 120.
The 997.2 PDK must be in the GT2 range of performance. Notice I didnt say GT2RS

Just my view given I have only driven the 997.2 C2S PDK and the 997.1 Twin Turbo

in addition to the above, i believe the .2 offers variable vane turbos, torque vectoring, and variable engine mounts.

Variable vanes came on a while ago before the 997.2

The Video shows what I would expect in basic form. What I DID not expect was the
total domination!! It would be interesting to see a 997.2 PDK C2S vs 997.1 TT

Of course we knew that that the 997.2 TT would simply destroy the lame GT1 engined car.

It's not the just the engine, every car magazine I've read talks about how much better the 997.2TT handles vs. the 997.1TT. The old car wasn't as stable, the new car inspires much more confidence when driving flat out.

Was that a 480bhp 997.1TT vs. a 530bhp 997.2TT's' ?? Surely a 500hp .2TT couldn't pull a .1TT that badly just due to the fast shifting PDK?

could it?

That's a 500 HP Turbo not a 530 Turbo S.

Dual clutch automated manual vs torque-converter slushbox.

The PDK is THAT good. I posted awhile ago that I raced a 996 TWIN TURBO chipped to 500HP.
The owner of the TT was the DRIVER of MY C2S PDK when we raced and there was a racer driving his car. The PDK pulled the TT on every shift and was ahead by a car length to 120.
The PDK is the biggest technological leap I have seen in my time in owning 911s including one TT and 2 GT3's. Its kept me from buying another GT3 RS, it was so good. I have set an ownership record with this car. I have owned it longer than any other 911 I have had.
Also the PDK is the first NON GT1 motor I have ever had. And so far, unmatched in power and usable rpm.

Good data point for me as I'm likely to go the C2S PDK route for my next DD 911. Thx.
