I'm in the same boat as you. I have to replace my rear PS2's within the next month or two. I may just a get a set of Hankooks for the rear & then when they wear out get new front & rears of the PS2's.

In the supercar comparison test of this R&T issue, I noticed that the Porsche Turbo S was on Bridgestones while the slightly faster (and lighter) Corvette Z06 was on Michelins, and sure enough in the detailed testing you notice that the Bridgestones lagged the Michelins. I thought when I read it that the Turbo might have kept pace with Z06 if it had been wearing the Pilot Sports that I use. What it really needed was these new Super Sports so it could whup the Corvette outright and send them scurrying to offer a ZR1 for the next comparo.

Incidentally, I noticed the curb weight of that Turbo was something like 500 lbs up on my C2S. Does four-wheel drive and the PDK add that much?

You bet it does. And it is easily felt by those who appreciate driving dynamics.

Wow. That means their benefit to lap times is even more impressive than I realized. Adding 500 lbs to a 3100 lb car is a tremendous handicap to overcome. No wonder they plan to sell a large proportion of their productino with both. That is, given the other benefits for drivers less enthralled with rear-engine dynamics and not genetically predisposed to three-pedal vehicles...

Reading LC's report, I noticed one thing I missed in R&T's that is useful. These are assymetric but not directional. That permits swapping left to right. Whether that helps extend the life of the tire depends on the suspension settings of course. We found it very helpful on our NSX, adding perhaps a third to the mileage between new sets.

Default Thwaron What???

I like that: "Twaron fiber". Can you eat it?
More and more tire makers **** towards asymetrical but not directional. Noise regulations in EU behind it.
And 10% longer tread life will yield additional 65 miles out of that tire.

10% longer thread life is 1000 miles on the rears and 1500 fronts!

Default Really?!?!

^^^The way YOU drive for sure
I am actually sitting at home, trying to figure out how to disable daytime running lights with Durametric software, sipping red wine and fooling around on RL. Tomorrow's Friday which is good. Can we start another thread on oil or 160* T-stat or something like that?
Speaking of oil I just bought 27L of M1 TDT CI-4+, SL here in C-town. The old spec M1 TDT, can you believe it? They still have some 27-12=15L left. Anybody?

Talking TDT??

Last I sniffed it was good. Vintage 2007 reserve from the blue Auto Value guys. It WAS expensive $11.?? a liter. Still better than the 0W40 horsep#%s. I was quite surprised. And the guy at AV could not figure out WHY OR WHY I want to pay more for 1L jugs if 5L SM/CJ-4 are CHEAPER???? Deer in the headlights, speaking of the cows. Want some? I can buy it for ya, next time in C-town you can pick it up from my garage.
TERRIBLY SORRY FOR HIJACKING YOUR THREAD JOHN!
