The quote about preferring a manual transmission was made by an enthusiast in the article.

“It’s about being in control,” Humphries said. “You get such a feel for the road, especially if you have a manual transmission, which is really the only way to drive a Porsche. Porsche drivers don’t want a car that drives itself. We don’t want computers and all these new gadgets that so many cars have today.”

Again... this is how rumors are propagated. Let's not just skim an article, but read it in its entirety and preserve context, shall we?

To be fair... you ought to edit your original post including the thread title - which you can easily do in advanced mode. This way you prevent the propagation of a false rumor.

Thanks for posting the link. Interesting article though the lack of informed comment is pretty apparent. Like the lawyer with the Cayman S who hates computer control; what, no PSM, antilock brakes, computer controlled engine management, PASM, etc. etc etc. in his car? Or the woman from the automobile research firm who thinks that Cayenne sales in the tough SUV market will only pick up once the Hybrid is introduced. Guess she hasn't shopped a Cayenne lately to discover Porsche is selling the new ones, S, V6, and TT as fast as they can build them.
