Default Going for PSE and X51

With the recent intro of the 20% holiday coupon I am going for the PSE and X51 on my 997.1. I've seen some prices increase significantly over time (e.g. X51 air box kit). What should I expect to pay these days for a full install including wiring to PASM/sport chrono switch for the PSE and X51 headers (no air box change)? thx in advance everyone.

Only until you ask your local P=car guys would you know for sure. I would think that the biggest chore is to pull the existing intake manifold and valve-train to put in the new top end.

The x51 package incorporated internal engine mods as it came from the factory.

Yes, you are correct, I am looking only to add the X51 headers only and PSE.

X51 headers I did myself--see my posting (do a search). It was child's play. The PSE wiring is going to be your hardest part.

Yes if you have an 09 car, PSE wiring is NOT fully done from the factory as it was in the previous 997.1 models. When I got my 997.2 last Jan I had them add it but once in the shop they discovered that they would have to run wiring from the exhaust to the cabin as its not P&P as previously. Easily done but adds time and of course shop hours to the install. What was quoted as a 2-3 hr job took 1.5 days to do. Got a loaner and the job at 3 hrs cost due to the quoted error by my sales manager at purchase (he quoted me 2-3 hrs and included that plus discounted price at purchase IF I did the PSE at that time..which I did).

So, how is it different on 997.1? Wiring is already done even on non-PSE cars?

997.1 cars are pre-wired for PSE whether ordered from factory or not. 997.2 cars are wired ONLY if PSE is ordered at the time of build/production. That's what the tech bulletin said from PCAG last Jan when my car was done. Good luck

not to deter you from the PSE, when I heard and drove the TUBI system i like it much better. However unlike the PSE, the tubi doesnt have the on/off switch. It is lighter too BTW.

I don't believe the 997.1 cars are prewired for PSE whether ordered or not. Many of the 997.1 customers were wrestling with this issue when faced with adding PSE after delivery.

Interesting, and how do you know if 997.1 PSE was wired already? If so, I'd probably get PSE as I've been told the wiring is the hardest part of the install!

The 997.1 cars are not pre-wired for PSE. If they are, I'd like someone to show where the PSE harness plugs into in the engine bay.

Imo, any of the popular after market mufflers make more sense and sound at least as good as PSE. Plus you get to take wt off in a great spot. No wiring issues. You didn't ask but my vote would be for AWE. (just putting my mouth where my money is

Thanks, according to my VIN # and dealer information my 997.1 is not pre-wired for PSE. Estimate is 10-12 hours to do the job including X51 headers, I found another post from another 997.1 owner in FL that they watched the dealer for about that time while their install was done.

How did they determine that? Do you have Sports Chrono and PASM?

10-12 hours!!! WOW! Is it worth it?
