Default 996 center caps on 997 wheels

Was contemplating some 997 turbo wheels- and found some polished 996 caps that match the polished 997 wheel.

Anyone know if the 996 caps fit 997 wheels?

Thanks

Most likely. I know the standard ones though, not sure about these particular ones.

Yes - Porsche standard 60mm centercaps for 996 and 997 (and other models too).

I have 993 center caps on so feel sure 996 will fit.

Just measured mine with calipers - 997 Turbo wheel caps are 77mm in overall diameter.

AFAIK, that's several mm larger than other 997 NA wheel caps. Plus they are concave and not flat.

Probably bigger than 996 era caps.

Here's a pic that shows they're bigger but not by how much. Use same size hex heads in each photo to be sure scale is close enough tell they're different diameter.

OR - go measure your 997 caps: if they're NOT 77mm they won't fit.

I can tell you from actual experience that standard 996 center caps will fit standard 997 wheels including the turbo. From Ralph Boothe's website - you can see the 60mm cap fits lots of different models:

Fits all Porsche wheels with 60mm opening: 928, 944, 968, C-2, C-4, 993, Bi-Turbo, Bi-Turbo S, Boxster, Boxster-S, 996, GT-2, GT-3, 997, Cayman, Cayenne. Comes in black, polished, chrome or silver painted.

Maybe this will help, the recess for the cap on the 997.1 polished Turbo wheel is 77mm.

Thanks for the picture - my answer still remains the same though. Not sure why Porsche refers to the caps as 60mm caps but the 996 center caps are interchangeable with the 997 center caps - I've had both and have done the swap including to a 997TT. The only issue with the TT wheel is that the center cap is polished and the other center caps offered by Porsche are painted - they are all the same size.

Hi jh. Ya know? I've never popped my caps out so maybe the diameter they refer to is a 60mm hole in the wheel where the compression fitting occurs with the tabs on the cap? To be honest my brain picked up somewhere that T wheels can only have T wheel caps because of diameters being bigger so I'm glad you're sure thats wrong. Good to hear what you're saying because now I can look into getting colored caps (unlike mine shown above). I'm very sorry for the misleading info if it turns out to be wrong which it probably will. Still I would like somebody to measure the recess diameter (overall cap diameter and wheel recess) of a 997 non-turbo wheel to be convinced it's 77 mm )

Found these at Suncoast: "Direct from Porsche" Very interesting.

Now you have me doubting my "positve" response. I have an extra set of the plastic colored center caps and will swap out the TT caps again tonight and report back. I thought I did this once before but changed back to the TT caps since the colored caps weren't polished and did look different...but as I remember, they were a direct fit.

Follow-up:

The colored centercaps for 993/996/997 (part #99336130309) are an exact fit for the 997 TT wheel.

Thanks to all -- very interesting info.

jhbrennan - Do the NON - 997 TT caps sit exactly flush to the face of the wheels like the stock caps do ? or are they sitting inset or extruding from the surface o the wheel ever so slightly

The TT center caps have a very, very slight concavity to them...the color crest caps sit pretty flush - I didn't see any inset or extrusion...however they certainly are a different color - polished v. painted.

I'm looking at the lug bolts of both wheels.. One set has a concave top and appears to be a larger size? Typically 19mm.
Not sure what my question is but rather an observation?

The ones on the left are aftermarket, the ones on the right are OEM. The topic has been center caps not lug bolts.
