Default Is there any way to turn off display on Tach for MPG, Tire press. avg speed functions

I would like to only see the miles per hour on the Tach ... is there any way to shut off the functions that show the MPG, Average miles per hr, tire pressure levels, etc.

I tried using the stalk and do not see this as an option, I also searched the Manual but don't see it either ...

My car is a 997.1 without PASM

I have the same question but am unable to find the answer. I can turn it off on my Audi, should be able to do the same in the P-car.

Electrical tape over the display.

I just spent 20 minutes in the garage with my car/manual. Pretty sure there is no way to completely shut off those functions. Nugget probably has the best idea.

i think you can slim it down to only show 1 thing, but cant turn off.. mine showed like mpg up top and other stuff below and using stalk could remove one.. why not just leave TPMS up there?

When I got my 1st 997 I put TPMS up and still find it an interesting "techie" display.

Ditto - with no spare I watch the tire pressures all the time.

i think this was one of the 1st question i asked after getting my 911. Its almost absurd that we cant turn it off. IMO that info s/b off to the side, maybe even on the PCM screen. I only want "vitals". Thats precious real estate!

Speaking of TPMS, how accurate do you find yours to be? Mine displays about 2lbs low on 3 of 4 tires and 1 lb low on the other (as compared to a pretty accurate gauge I use when filling).

Accurate to 2-4 psi. I inflate tires and check manually then use the TPMS display for relative indications - e.g., if I inflate to 34 and 40 and TPMS shows 36 and 42 then I know what to mentally adjust too. So if LF shows 30 and RF shows 36 I know I need to look at LF and add air.

997.2 TPMS is pretty accurate - within 1lb of my digital guage.

I keep my TPMS display up most of the time. It's highly useful to improve your reaction time should you be experiencing a flat.

When I had that recent flat, the warning system was VERY effective - I was cruising with the sunroof open, Blues XM blaring - all the BEEPING and RED Lights going off; not subtle at all and I was off to the side of the road immediately.

Monitoring the TPMS all the time should be useful though to spot a slow leak and deal with it before it becomes an RA event. Even this is probably unnecessary as the Add Air warning is going to go off if the pressure falls out of range.
