When I had that recent flat, the warning system was VERY effective - I was cruising with the sunroof open, Blues XM blaring - all the BEEPING and RED Lights going off; not subtle at all and I was off to the side of the road immediately.
Monitoring the TPMS all the time should be useful though to spot a slow leak and deal with it before it becomes an RA event. Even this is probably unnecessary as the Add Air warning is going to go off if the pressure falls out of range.
