Default Dead battery-Car beep beeped when

I jump started it and started to drive. The beep beep sound seemed to happen every few minutes while I was driving it after the jump start. Could find nothing in the manual. Anyone have an idea what the car is trying to tell me?

And you had your seatbelt on?

Possible the computer developed a glitch from the dead battery and jump start. The PO of my car had let the battery die shortly before putting it up for sale. The dealer put a new battery in and then had to reprogram the ECU. All's fine now.

Answers: seat belt on and it was a beep beep not a chime.

There is no such thing as a "beep" in the 997.1 owner's manual I have. Search the owner's manual and there's no "beep."

Meaning: though you heard a "beep" it was probably translated as "tone" or "chime."

Did you check your speed alarm? That's really all there is that's audible, inserted ignition key, seat belt and door, and speed alarm. I'd look again but, no time.

The only beep I get out of mine is when I attempt to lock the car and something isn't secured, like an open trunk, or a door ajar.

Horn activation is probably the answer. I trickle charged it overnight and car started up nicely for ride to dealership where I exchanged it for an Enterprise (never been cleaned in 14K miles) A4. Also bought a portable jump starter so that when battery dies again, I will not be stranded.

Ah, dealer has located the problem it says-some cable somewhere (please excuse technical jargon) the repair of which is only $1100, of which I will be expected to contribute about $384. Hmmm, warranty expired in March. No more beep beeps.

Glad they found it. $384 is not bad if the actual (real) cost is $1,100.

I'm following this as I'm having all sorts of battery issues including the regular use of a trickle charger. My car always seems hard to start and the battery is relatively new (<6 months old) My car gets driven at least twice a week.

It's the alternator cable that runs from alt to bottom of chassis. Known issue on the 997.1 cars. I'm about to R+R this cable on my '06 c2s. Has become VERY hard to crank. You two most likely have the very same issue with the original alt cable. The cable has been updated to a better design. Solves the slow/hard cranking. I'll take some pics, maybe post a diy.

Are you planning to do the replacement yourself? Or are you taking it in? Either way, i'd like to hear about your experience as I've got to do something. I stalled the car today in traffic, i blame the size 12.5 running shoes!!!!!! The first 3 times I cranked the car I got nothing. It wasn't until the horns started honking that my engine started to crank, then finally fired up on the 5th try.

You are being CONNED, the over-speed, ROAD speed, ALERT was reset to the default state (65MPH??) and it is beeping each time you transition through the default setting.

Very neat diagnosis! Right or wrong ... very neat!
