Hey all, just wanted to share with you guys that my search is over. I found a really nice 05 997 Carrera that now resides in my garage. Seal Grey with black interior, just the options I wanted too, heated seats, bose and the HID's. This forum has been a great help in my decision process. I had it PPI'd at Pacific Porsche and they did a great job. The seller took off for everything they found(which was really just brakes and tires). So the PPI paid for itself in negotiations. There were no overrevs in the danger zones so I am happy.

Looking for a few things to customize, first up is a set of sport design 19" wheels. Anyone know of a set of take offs or someone who has some they want to get rid of?

Thanks again and here are some overcast pics I took this morning. Now my 73 has a younger sibling to keep it company.

That's pretty much a perfect garage, best of both worlds if you ask me.

Looks great---congratulations.

Regarding the wheels, you might want to give Dave or Alan a call at Wheel Enhancement (http://www.wheelenhancement.com). Expert advice!

So looking at wheels......there are 19/9.5 and 19/11 for the rears. Which size is best for a std Carrera?

Here's a pic of my seal grey 2006 from the same angle as your third picture. (for comparison purposes)—with 19/11's on the rear.

Beautiful car, mine is a 2005 with Stone interior. Had 8k on the odometer when I bought it last year. Seal gray metallic is one of Porsche's best colors imo. Enjoy!

Great looking P-Car.
Definitely get rid of the 18's and buy a set of 19''s.
Aesthetically, 19's make all the difference in the world.

I may be in the minority, however, when I bought my '06, it had lobster fork
19's on it and I hated them. A year and a half later, the lobsters are starting
to grow on me as they become more and more rare.

I know the feeling. I've only had the car a few months, but was originally looking at some black or anthracite BBS, OZ or HRE wheels to replace the lobster-claws. Then I went to a large PCNA meet where virtually everyone had black or anthracite after-market wheels, and decided I like the original lobster-claws just as they are. They have definitely grown on me.

Note to the OP: I gather from the guys at Wheel Enhancement that they get lots of OEM Porsche wheels as trade ins. You should be able to pick up some 19" Sport or lobster-claws or other OEM wheel there for small change.

The Lobster's are also the lightest of the 19" factory wheels

Ya I called Wheel Enhancements and they were fresh out of used or take off sport designs, 4K for a new set so I'm cruising craigslist and ebay.

I think the lobsters look great, I just want something a little different. I was always amazed by the lobster hate haha.

but i would buy set of 18" 9" and 12" wide CCW rims for a track instead than to waste money on a street only rims. carrera classics you got now are pretty nice rims, 18" rubber is cheaper and car runs better on it.

I agree--I'm surprised by what seems to be the dislike of the lobsters. When I first saw them in '05, I was floored at how much presence they had on the new body after seeing the effete 996 for several years.

While I would enjoy a pair of the new black Fuchs-like Tequipment Sport Wheels, or the Turbo IIs (not a fan of the "regular" Turbo wheels), the lobsters are the best of them all, IMHO.
