+1. Some commercial vehicles already have systems like these installed to limit liability; only a matter of time before they become widespread.

Big picture:

Your OK.

A car can always be replaced.

If you work with his insurance company - ask for replaced value (including taxes your time, and some aggravation).

If you both are fair - you will reach a number you are comfortable with.

If they balk - threaten them with contact from "your attorney" regarding financial and physcial damages.

If that still doesn't work and you get nowhere and they try to scew you - go to an attorney (but negeotiate $ up front) - otherwise the attorney will scew you more than the insurance company.
