My favorite Top Gear video involving a Porsche is probably James May driving to the studio :

I love Top Gear for entertainment, but they know bleep-all about cars. If you want to see some real drivers watch Best Motoring. The most informative segment about the Porsche 997 ever on TV :

I agree the Isle of Man comparison is excellent. Here are links to it in three clips from YouTube:

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3PcUg_FzjI

Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsJhu9pv1qI

And his one is great too, including a funny discussion of who buys which 997:

I was laughing the entire 24 minutes. It was so funny. They seem like really good guys. I am going to order some of the episodes from Amazon.
Why would you order when they are all free on finalgear.com

If you have a PS3 or Apple TV or similar, you can stream Netflix. They have several season on demand.

I went to final gear.com. I tried to look at the videos but I had a problem with Torrent or something like that. I am using a MAC maybe that is a problem. I would love to be able to watch it on the computer. Is there a trick to streaming or down loading from final gear.com

You need a bittorrent client like utorrent to download the files, and then the right codec to play them back, depending on the ripped format (often .MKV).

Download VLC player, it can play damn near any codec known to man. MKV's included. Yes VLC is available for MAC or PC.

The Top Gear, £1500 Porsche Challenge available on YouTube is well worth watching, but for real fun, look for Budget Supercars. That was really funny.

Or Fifth Gear. Jeremy Clarkson said Tiff Needell taught him how to drive a 911.

Its a great show alright but I shudder when they wantonly destroy rare and desirable classic cars - ie their sketch on British Leyland + cheap exotics + cheap Italian cars.

Some lovely cars sent to the scrapper after those shows.

I like the Carrera GT episode, where even Clarkson's disdain for the the brand can't hold up in the face of the Porsche supercar's sheer awesomeness.

Default hardly...

Seems like anytime I catch an episode they are racing RV's converted to boats on the water or taking a train to beat a Ferrari across country or interviewing a useless pop star celebrity.... If they stripped the garbage out the program I think it would be much better.... that said, not many modern day super car shows on TV these days so guess I would say some of it is good but hate sitting through 30 minutes on none sense for a few minutes of legit review. Good show, yes but gotta sit through some rubbish to get there.....not sure I agree it is the best

Now watching "Battle of the Supercars" and seeing Sharkwerks 3.9rs demolish that the F car 430 is good TV... or Evosports 997 Turbo 650 vs the modded R8...or the Gumpert vs the Malan etc etc.. Yes, a lot of human factor (response time, who is the better driver etc etc) in their shootouts but still fun to watch...
