911 Sport Classic $250k limited to 250 units
911 Speedster $200k limited to 356 units
911 GTS $100k
Spyder has a bespoke body, like Sport Classic and Speedster, that's why it's such a steal (and the way it drives of course)! They probably figured they couldn't sell a Boxster for 6 figues, let alone 200k!
GTS is just a (great) collection of off the shelf items.

amazing...
This car looks fantastic.... the speedster look with the chopped top has always been a iconic look for Porsche going back to the 356 as we all know ... I am happy they released this variant but not happy they choose to make it a limited production (or as limited maybe a better statement) and agree the price tag is much to high.... I am sorry, but I find it hard to believe a 911 fan would look at the pics and vids released and not think this was pretty cool.... I have No doubt this car will look great in person....

Mickfluff, believe it. I love the 911, but not the 911 Speedster variants. None of them.
The plain truth is that in the Spyder format, the Boxster is just better, no matter if Porsche tries to handicap it or not.

to each there own
I hear you....
no doubt the spyder boxter varient is a dead ringer for being unqiue and worth the up charge $ and much more car then the base Boxter....
the 991 although over priced I think is an amazing variant....Looking forward to seeing in person....

For the money the spyder is the winner, hands down. You can have (1) one for the track, (2) one for the nice weekends, and (3) one to store in a barn for 30 years.

Yea. I love the Speedster. If you've got the deep pockets, who cares if it's over priced. With the limited numbers, it's not likely to lose value over the years. Relatively speaking, any Porsche is over priced compared to other cars on the market. We'd all be in GT-Rs, Vettes, or Miatas if bang for the buck was the priority.
But if the money matters, then "Nay". As much as I love the Speedster, the price is over the top for what one gets.

I'll keep my Spyder thank you, way to much $$$$$$$ for what you get.
IMHO, the Boxster Spyder looks better and I was never a fan of the Speedster models.
To each their own, if you like it, buy it and enjoy.
