Default Does a cab ride rougher than a coupe?

I had a 996 C4S cab that rode brutally rough, almost unbearable. Rattled my fillings and couldn't even see out the rear view mirror because it was vibrating so much. I haven't driven a 997 cab and know it has extra support/stiffening but I hope it doesn't ride like my old cab. Any experience with SPASM and a cab? Thanks.

Are you sure you didn't have sport mode engaged? My coupe is a bit firmer than Edgy's cab, which is my only comparison of the two body styles.

The PASM in a 997 cab is "detuned" and less stiff than the PASM in a 997 coupe. Compare Normal to Normal, Sport to Sport the cab will be a little softer.

The opposite is true. Cabs are cushier.

Unless something has changed for 2011, I believe SPASM is only available for the Coupe.

After a lifetime of coupes I smartly chose the cabriolet and I appreciate the cushier ride. I can stiffen it up in the sport mode but with Americans roads being what they are I generally leave that off. I just happen to like the ride in the cabs, and don't believe for a moment that I have given up performance for comfort.

Perfect guys- thanks a lot. I'm deciding coupe vs cab with the GTS. Appreciate the feedback but wish the SPASM was available in the cab...

Unless you are planning to track the car the cab is generally more fun if you live in an area with a lot of sunny days.

My 997.1 cab with PASM on normal rides much more smoothly than my previous 996 c2 coupe. PASM set to sport firms things up significantly without becoming harsh. Big buyer of the cab over the coupe.

The cab bodies are less rigid and the suspension is a bit softer so the ride should be a bit softer.

This in its entirety.
I can't WAIT for the 991 GT3 to come out to scoop one up.

In case you didn't know this, Porsche designed the 997 Cabriolet FIRST, before the Coupe. They figured that if you can build a cabriolet to be stiff, that it would be child's play to then build a corresponding coupe. As such, the 997 cabriolet is substantially stiffer than the 996 Cabriolets, which have a bad reputation for some of that creakiness.

True! The 997 cab is an excellent chassis.
