Absence of indicators or codes aren't the whole story. Make SURE they note it in the official record of your car. Get the service/inspection report and hold onto it. That way if the engine goes after the warranty expires you'll have evidence of what may have caused it and when it started. In the past there were actual instances of engines that had to be replaced because of uneven soot. Examples of uneven soot engine replacements are documented on these internet boards somewhere.

That would be risky but I wonder about that myself. Don't know how you could control wear. Have they done compression check, leak down and the like for you? Could be valve seal, esp if you get a lot of smoke on start up after it's been sitting. But you probably have been thru all of this. if it runs well you may just have a thirsty engine. Remind youself that loose engines make more horsepower than tight ones.
