Default Why does the tpms do this?

The tpms is really getting annoying. I understand why it alerts when the front tires get down to 29lbs, but why dies it go off sometimes when it is at 30lbs? I also hate how it reads 3lbs lower than what it reads on the all of my tire pressure gauges

Agreed. More than mildly irritating to have the low pressure warning come on when its clearly not underpressured.

did not get the tpms option rather got an aftermarket tpms..so far it seems more reliable and accurate too based on my digital tire gauge.

I believe much is related to how you set up the thing. If you are getting it to show certain things it tends to go off more. I simply have mine showing me 'actual' pressures in near real-time and not giving me deltas from a target pressure. it's very stable in my car.

Are you running your tires at the proper pressures? It sounds like your pressures are just too low for the operational modes the system is set up for.

Since 9/1/2007 (??) TPMS is no longer an option - have to get it.

Yes I'm running my tires at the proper pressure for TPMS which is really 3 pounds higher than my gauge reads. Last night is a great example, I shut the car off and the TPMS goes off saying my drivers side front tire is low. It reads at 34 pound on the TPMS. Why is the TPMS going off if the tire is at 34?

Sounds like you are sure, but make sure that you don't have your TPMS set up for full load pressures, unless of course you want to run those pressures.

Is the full load an option? I've been trying to run 33/39 but since the tpms reads 3 pounds lower it's more like 36/42

Yes it is if you are running the 19" tires. If your TPMS is set for full load pressures and you are running 33/39, that could be the reason you are getting the alarm. I thought you said in an earlier post that you had about 30 in your fronts when you got the alarm. Also, are the pressures you are referencing cold or hot pressures?

i'm tellin ya: 1) OVERinflate all tires by a few lbs, 2) make sure the TPMS reads correctly/clears the error, 3) turn off/on car once to confirm error is gone.

after error is gone, simply adjust tires back down to normal. works for me every time. it seems the error cant "clear itself" or something unless it reads OVERinflation.

This. And how fortunate we are to have $100k automobiles that require this assinine an exercise.

The pressures I was referring to were cold pressures. I did have it set to partial load. So far the message cleared but we'll see if it reappears tomorrow.

My 07 Boxster with 19's was tpms-wacky, so I added air, to required levels. Still wacky so I accessed the menus and reset to 19's summer tires (same as current setting) and it took a good 20 minutes in learning mode for it to reset. Now it's fine and not finicky about pressure. Not sure Carreras have same system, but hope that helps.
