Default how many keys at delivery

I got delivery last week and I received 2 remote keys.

DO I suppose to get a key without remote? or just 2 remote keys?

Because I did not get the any manual and books since Porsche sent suv package for my 997.2 which was weird.

Delaer is getting the correct book set this week, but I want to make sure I am getting all I suppose to get.

Is the book set is matched with vin number? or is it all same? Is there any security code that I suppose to have for the PCM in case battery goes bad?

Thanks.

I got three with my "used" 997. Two real ones and the little plastic one.

Porsche no longer issues the plastic one.

From what I know, Porsche stopped issuing the plastic "valet" key beginning with the 2008 MY.

Doesn't apply to the OP since he got the car new, but to anyone buying a used one...

Yep, MY '07 was the last year to give you two master keys and the smaller, plastic "emergency key". Only had to use either of mine once, but it saved me a huge hassle having it handy.

Does anyone know if it's possible to order the little plastic keys, at extra $ I'm sure, or has Porsche completely discontinued making them?

Porsche stopped issuing the plastic key because too many were getting stuck in the ignition at great repair cost. I've had several and never used one so no great loss.

Thank you for replies.

I need a valet key when I park in NYC, so I just wondered.

I might have to make extra key or give the original key to valet.

Just a note, the non remote valet key still needs a individually coded transponder chip in the head, otherwise the ignition will not unlock.
From memory the early valet keys were also cut in a way that they could not open the glove box or other compartments.

What we really need is a valet key that has a remote and, when used, limits rpms to about 2,000. It would only take some programming.

When I had my S4, I got it chipped at APR, and they had a valet mode that didn't let engine go beyong 3500 RPM or so. Was pretty cool, used it a few times I valeted, and also when my GF was behind the wheel!

I really like the way of key that can be programed.

The thing is I do a monthly parking over last 6 years in NYC, guys there know me and they always park the car right beside their booth where everybody is watching and it is right next to the garage entrance.

so I hope they don't do anything crazy. The only other thing is when I go to somewhere else in Manhattan that I have to give car to valet. Since it is parking garage, they can't do anything stupid inside of the garage, but I have seen lost keys there many times. When they are so busy, there are like 10 cars waiting to park and another 10 people waiting in the line to pick up the car. Then I see the valet guys running around fast, there is high chance of losing the key in somewhere. They say it won't happen, but I know 2 of my friend lost thier keys at parking lot and of course they paid for it, but took like 3 weeks to have key delivered and programed + another 2 weeks to get paid by garage. The thing was my friend didn't know whether they really lost key or hide somewhere and use it when he give his car to park. For example, who knows if they drive your car during the night time. If we ask them if they drove his car, they will say " your key was kept in the pay booth. " Oh, yes, because they have separte key to use.
My friend said he checked couple time with milage but after that he stopped, but he is still little concerned.

To me, I would like to get a key that can be programed so that they are allowed to start engine only one time when they bring the car to me.
