Default Front end squeeking

I have a 2005 Carrera S. The car has recently developed an intermittent squeeking noise that originates somewhere in the front end. It typically appears after the car has been driven for some time and it changes rate with car speed. Basically the rate of squeeking increases as car speed increases. It also seems to be more pronounces when steering to the left any amount and mostly goes away when steering slightly right. I have noticed that when the squeek does appear, any light to moderate braking will also replicate the noise. It seems like it's coming from somewhere around the front axle. Has anyone had this issue before? Any ideas as to what could be the cause? Thanks.

I'm about 95% sure you have a failing wheel bearing and it's on the right side.

As you turn left you load the right bearing and the reciprocal is true when turning right. Braking also loads the front end.

Expect to pay about 2 hours labour + the bearing (no idea of cost). May want to check the brakes while you're in there because they'll have to come off to do the bearing. Easy, painless, common job.

Depending on the shop and the equipment they're using you may need an alignment after the work. Some bearings can be pressed off on the vehicle, others need to have the knuckle removed and that could upset your alignment.

Where should I send the bill for the front end diagnosis?

Thanks for the reply. I'm bringing it in tomorrow, we'll see if you're right. The only issue is that the squeeking doesn't happen all the time. How would they diagnose a failing wheel bearing if doesn't happen to be making that noise at the time of service?

Wheel bearings aren't ever intermittent. It'll be loud when loading that side. Also, they rarely squeek, they howl.

This squeak/chirp only shows up after the car has been driven for some time. But once it starts then usually stays.

It sounds like we have similar squeaks. I haven't noticed any difference in braking or turning but once the chirp starts it won't stop. It doesn't always appear. Usually on longer drives or after a rough road. Please keep up your post I am interested in your findings my dealer wasn't able to replicate it. My car is an 05 Carrera.

I brought the car in for service last week one day after work hoping the squeak/chirp would show up by the time I got there but it did not. I didn't even bother leaving it with them. My mechanic said I should just wait until it shows up and then drive straight to there so they could look at it. He did say that the symptoms seem to be a wheel bearing on it's way out.
