Default Dealer in Ohio Closes

Vin Devers in Toledo has lost their Porsche franchise
Poor economy, sales, and service too, I think...

In some areas of the country Penske Auto Group (PAG I think it is referred to) has been taking over failed or closing Porsche dealerships. I do not know if Porsche has taken over any. In this area GM has taken over closed dealerships and other car makers have done the same thing but whether Porsche has done this or not I don't know.

Also, I know of at least one and there are probably more Porsche dealerships that are for sale but there are no takers.

Sincerely,

Macster.

I am amazed that there have not been more Porsche dealers closing.

We all knew that times were bad when Champion Porsche filed Bankruptcy.

Could be just the tip of the iceberg? A continuing poor economy will produce more for sure.

The thing is, that dealer is still in business, selling Audis and Mercedes...so it was Porsche itself that pulled the plug. The dealer didn't go under.
I'm wondering if Audi is the next to go. I would bet that having Mercedes there in the same showroom is a sore spot (for example, you come in to test drive the A4 as a winter car, and they say, oh, btw, why don't you try the C300 4matic too?...)

PNA closed the dealer in Des Moines last year. I have bought 3 new cars in the last 6 years but no more. it's now 130 miles to the nearest dealer for service.

Wasn't a big volume dealer though. Woodhouse in Omaha does much more volume and has good service. Bummer still that you have to go 130. Many moons ago Carousel in Iowa City also sold Porsche.

Didn't a Louisiana dealer close in the last year as well? Pretty sure it was New Orleans or Baton Rouge.

No .. Ohio is 100% US of A. I suggest you look at a map and refresh yourself. There is lots of life outside the left coast.

I was in NY this weekend for my cousins' graduation party (one from highschool, she's headed to M.I.T.!! and her sister from rutgers). I pass a porsche dealer on 17 (?) that must have had 50 911's in the parking lot! It was a beautiful sight. I think my dealer has 5.

that was in New Jersey on Route 17.

There were two competing dealerships within about 10 miles or each other. One bought the other and closed both locations and just opened a huge dealership.

Great location in a very affluent area. They can probably sell 50 porsches a month.
