A friend of mine just picked up a brand new PDK C2S and I am about to shop for a used 997 GT3. Many have told me that the PDK equipped porsche launches harder than the manually driven GT3. Can the PDK C2S beat the mighty 997 GT3 in a straight line race from 0-60mph, 1/4 mile etc....

I track my pdk 09 c2s with .1 gt3's and they do not pull me on the straights. I have not drag raced one yet from a dead stop

A 2011 Mustang Cobra will beat them both 0-60 and in the quarter mile. It's all about buying the right tool for the job you want to do.

IMO if straight line acceleration is important to you, go for the 997 Turbo.

+1. Turbo is more comfortable, and would do best in straight line if that's your biggest concern.

GT3 is track-built, with suspension, spoilers (front/back), roll-cage, etc... for JUST THAT! It's fast on the straight and probably faster than C2S PDK with a good driver (to do shifts proerly), however, it's better than both on track, specially on high speed tracks.

2009/2010 PDK C2S will do 0-60 in 4.1. Its very easy to launch fast. However, thats not the best purpose of the car. But it will hold its own against all but the supercars / TT's that will do it in the 3's.

Pretty much right in the 997.2 S wheelhouse, especially considering these times were achieved by professional testers, while just about anyone who can press a button and hold the accelerator flat can achieve max times in the Carrera with PDK.

heh, it is not a _mustang_, it is the SHELBY. a lot of a difference there...
still not a porsche - folks here in MA took their total stock street c2s pdk on street tires to a drag strip and it did 1/4 mile in 12.2sec. regular 997.1street c2s did 1/4 in 12.9.

like i said - shelby needs custom wide wheels with proper tires to be able to use all that power it got.

Post #3 referred to the 2011 Mustang Cobra. I assumed they meant the Shelby Mustang. Is there a 2011 Mustang GT, Shelby Mustang, AND Mustang Cobra? I know the GT is no match for a Carrera S.

In any event, I don't disagree with your point that a C2S PDK is a very fast car, even on street tires.

To the OP, if you want to a PDK C2S in action search you tube for "M5 boards" with "PDK" in your search.
