needed to create 986/7 to create cash to R&D GT3RS and GT2RS etc which is true founders intent and true of passion of the company. there is no debating this and i am now closing the thread.
The first 356's were rear engined because they were basically converted Beetles. Parts were readily available and could be used. That is why they were rear engined. Not because it was better. It was about economies of manufacturing.

I had an '03 Boxster S and man do I miss it. With the top down, it gave me more smiles per miles than any other car. After a while it did seem a little underpowered, but nothing a supercharger couldn't fix.

My 911 was a pure joy to drive. Very refined, and I loved it in a totally different way.

I think the only true solution is to get BOTH.

Both are great cars, but to answer properly, the purpose has to be known.

Is this gonna be your ONLY car? or in addition to other cars? Do you track? What sort of climate do you live in?

To me Boxster should be an addition to a stable, while 911 can provide 80% of one's need and be your only car. If this is your second car, then it's harder... 911 feel, noise, engine, power is just something else... but if you mostly drive in town, don't track too much, and like more of a go cart feel rather then sports car feel, then Boxster maybe a better fit!

Good luck

If I did not have my 6 year old twins that like to go for a ride with the top down, I would pick the BoxsterS, then I'd TT it. I did own a 02 S for about 8 months, at the time I had a lot of cars, so I sold it.
