Default Switching to 305 rear tires

I need new tires and I'm considering switching from 295 to 305 rear tires. Is there any problem with this? Will I notice any differences? I'm looking the bridgestone re-11 and they only come in 305. Do people like this tire.

On the street you will not notice anything...you will notice more by going from the tires you had to RE11's.

The 305's will look a little more "meaty" which I personaly like.

i switched last year. helped a lot on rainy/road-salted streets when trying to make a turn into a traffic lane from a standstill etc. the 295's would slip/spin sometimes if i wasnt gentle on the throttle but now that extra 10mm def makes a diff. on the track however, it of course increased my understeer until i got swaybars and alignment. now all is right and good.

I'm also skeptical of Spiffyjiff's conclusion. All other factors being equal, a wider tire will do more poorly in the wet than a narrower tire. The traction difference from width is dwarfed compared to traction differences stemming from tread pattern and age, though. Almost certainly the wet traction improvement seen was a result of a different or deeper tread and not the tire width.

Bottom line, mdrums is correct -- for street driving the difference between 295 and 305 is strictly cosmetic and cost. You won't notice any performance or handling differences on the street. The RE11 is a fine tire.

hmmm, you have a point with new tires = better grip than my old worn ones. but re: "wider tire will do more poorly"...doesnt that apply mainly to going at speed thru (standing) water, etc? originally, i was referring to starting from a standstill, trying to make a right or left into lanes of traffic, where i would think wider tire = more grip = better traction during start from standstill.

eh, or maybe it was just the new tires vs. old worn ones...what the hell do i know anyway.

Switched from 295 PS2's to 305 RE11's on my '05 C2S. Great tire, little less $'s. No regrets both street and track. Visual and clearance no issues.

I have both sizes on different sets of wheels. No performance difference on the street. Visually, from twenty feet, I can't see the width differential either. My C2s came with 235/295's. German engineers decided on that stagger, for whatever reasoning, and I'll stick with that whenever possible. When you get the RE-11's, please post a review and comparison with the tires you are replacing.

305s are small https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...e-compc93.html

Or maybe that's just crazy!

I've had 295, 305s and 315s and only noticed an ever growing hole in my wallet. Back to 295s
