does anyone just fill half a tank of gas each time, rather than full tank

i suppose you should go full tank on lengthy trips, but if you only drive the carrera a couple times a week even filling half wouldn’t have you stopping frequently for gas

what say you?

You may need therapy.

only for track events, run 1/2 tank and fill between run-groups.

I even drain the washer tank.

I run 1/2 tank of 100/91 octane blend for autoX otherwise fill-er-up! Not a great idea to leave tank half full all the time in winter/cold weather anyway as it increases possibility of condensation.

well, fuel is about 7lbs per gallon, so you could save a cool 63 lbs with a half tank. That said, the weight is coming off the wrong part of the car.

I'm working to loose another 6lbs, so I can get down to 160. But, you do bring up a good point. What are the areas of weight saves? Any of the experts care to share?

Don't know about the expert part, but removing the rear seats/cushions is a pretty easy 25+ pounds. Pretty much necessary anyway if you're installing a harness/roll bar. Replacing stock battery with an Optima when the time comes saves another 10. Sport buckets save about 50lbs total over stock power seats. PCCB brakes save about 40 but they're not a DIY retrofit and they're $$$, although they have other benefits. And of course, lighter wheels will save you an extra few lbs a wheel. Other changes like lighter exhaust systems are available, but IMO there are tradeoffs the further you go into the weight reduction thing.

I start the car in the morning and then take the battery out

In all seriousness, I do remove the manuals and the tire goo cuz those are like 10 pounds together.

I have outfitted myself with a carbon fiber skull.
Saves about 20 lbs and as an added bonus, I no longer need to wear a helmet!
