Nat Geo Ultimate Factory : Porsche
If anyone wants a copy of this documentary (on hard drive...AVI file) its only 500 MB. I have it.
Send me a pocket drive-travel drive (whatever you want to call them) of 1 gig or more and return shipping costs (or, self addressed stamp envelope, better) and I'll happily transfer the documentary and send it back to you.
Send me a PM if interested.

I DVR'd this and watched it last night - a great show. You can see how they are able to churn out so many cars but each is basically bespoke.
Every time I see a car in production, I marvel at how they are able to do it for the money. Yes, it's a $100k motor but there were 1000s people involved in the production and even at minimum wage, that's going to cost a lot of money! And that's not even considering the engineering and manufacturing side or the cost of all the infrastructure.
It's amazing that we can get cars so technically advanced at a relatively low price. Compare it to a house - no science there, very simple building techniques and materials but prices that are many times that of a car...

Does anyone happen to know when the hot dip galvanizing of the body occurs in the 997 manufacturing process ? It is not really mentioned in the in the series . . . but is a major contributer to the longevity of these great cars.

Though the reality is that we probably will all be buying plastic prefab houses made in factories in the future. And the Porsche of house makers will offer options like "full marble" and "natural wood"
