Default Michelin Sport PS2 for a 997 4S

Hi,

Anyone tried to find a set of Michelin Sport PS2 for a 997 4S? (Sizes are 305/30/19 and 235/35/19). They are produced in both N1 and N2 versions. Michelin USA tell me that "they can't get them" (not helpfull), TireRack advertises them, but doesn't have any and can't get them. Both N1 and N2 versions are widely available in Europe. Before I import a set, anyone know where I could find a set in the US?

Thanks.

Mark.

From Damon over at TireRack back on 4/16/10:

The N1 tires in this size have been discontinued and replaced with the N2 version.

The N2 tires are not discontinued, just in such short supply that at this time they are a dealer-only item until Michelin catches up with production. I certainly hope to have them available for retail sale again soon.

I just ordered new rears for my C2S. I wanted the 305's, but was told they are discontinued in that size and are being replaced with the new PS3's and they were on backorder indefinitely at this time. So I went back with the 295's in the PS2's.

Thank you. I talked to Damon twice this morning. He was very helpful. Pretty clear that, for the moment, this rubber is either in very short supply or not available at all. Tire Rack will now accept orders from delaers for N2 rubber. No commitments on availability.

Just put N4s on my rear. Had N1s but could not match. Was told by my dealer that mismatched tires would void my warranty if they could determine that the N4s had caused a problem which would have been caused by the mismatch! I'd love to hear that rational!!!

When my fronts wear out I'll match the N4s in the rear and be warranty eligible again!

I understand that the dealer would have issues mounting a non-Porsche recommended combination. I, however, had a issue with replacing good/serviceable tires because they no longer offer a required combination. Imagine a low mileage car with N1s getting a sidewall puncture. Their rules would mean replacing the entire set of tires, both front and rear, if N1s were no longer available just because one tire can no longer be used.

Were I tracking the car I would keep them matched, but I street only and I seldom get over 100 mph!

If you can't find your first choice Michelin anywhere but the dealer and don't want to pay $2500 for a set of tires don't be afraid to try the N Spec Bridgestones. They are excellent.
