yup- a lot internals need to get done once u add that much power...need more cooling, fuel injectors, gaskets, spar plugs, in some cases, brakes, suspension and even tires if you want to make use of all that power...otherwise you can probably do it with some internal mods to the engine, like the fuel injectors etc..but you would have to keep a very low boost if you want to avoid an engine rebuild or detonation

The system is designed to run at very low boost and it does... most cars are delivered by TPC at 4.5-5psi. The kit comes fully inclusive with an a/w intercooler, proper 60lb injectors and all plumbing. We have never had a failure in the 250+ turbo system that we have sold world wide. Proper tuning and low boost pressures are to commend for that...

Good explanation video found here.

When that happened I thought to myself "I wonder if the rest of the car was engineered and built to handle the added power and torque of the SC". So I agree that I would be concerned about adding 135 HP to a car that wasn't engineered to have that much power.
I do not agree with idea that 'car was not engineered to handle that much power'. Turbo car is not that different from C4S car suspension wise and drive shaft wise, if we want to get specific.
There is always a concern about engine internals but as you do know and anybody else knows - there are plenty of supercharged cars out there and most of them are running fine. TPC system is nice from perspective of adjustability, in combination with boost controller you can choose yourself what level of stress you want to use.

I see it from one single angle - if you plan on keeping the car - it makes total sense to put turbo on it. If you plan to get rid of the car in 2-3 years and jump on a next one - probably it is not a smartest idea to put it totally out of stock form.
From other perspective in 2-3 years, again, if TPC will keep selling those kits at same rate and all those cars will be running just fine - it will become more common and may be will not scare potential buyers away. Who knows.

With the price of a 997TT dumping all the time I would consider it silly to go do this to your Carrera. A buddy of mine had his C4S supercharged (different, somewhat) as he wasn't waiting for the 997TT to be released and was impatient for power. It was a terrible experience. Wound up paying good money to have the whole thing removed later.

If you are going to wait till you are beyond your warranty, than it makes sense. It's seems a cost effective way to have TT power in that case only. If you do it before warranty is up, no way.

+1. If there was no TT possibility at current prices, I might understand why one would look at this, but it really isn't worth it, UNLESS, someone finds an 05 very cheap to use it as a project car and cannot afford a 997.1 TT.

The delta between what I paid last year for my 05 997 non S and the asking price this year for an 05 turbo is about 35-40K.

Not sure what the actual prices for 05 TT's are these days but even taking 10K off the top of the asking price makes this route something some should at least consider.

That was our thought. Even the power difference between a 997 base car and an S car is really not that much. All in with a car and system you could easily be in the 60-62k range. Even the most Beat 997TTs are still trading at auction are still in the 70k range... And who knows about the history of the cars at an auction...

Default why are so many confused??????

Used 05 997 none S 25K miles light options can be bought in the 41.5K range----10K turbo set up, +5K install, tune and some other mods and for 55K you have a beast. VS mid 80's for a 997TT. That's a 30K savings, not shabby if "value" or "budget" is important to you + if you have a passion for modding cars, owning something unique and different.... I am not sure why people have hard time understanding that....

next scenario- Years back you bought a 997 for 85K+ ish at some point... did some mods maybe in the 5-10K range (simple wheels etc...or other etc) and into the car for near 100K+ after you add in sales tax etc (its a cost) ..... today your car is worth 50K-50K........ hard to stomach for most. ... for 10K+ you can bring your car back to life, have something very unique, different and better then when it rolled off the show room floor. (please do not argue that 450hp is worse then 325hp/355hp, you will just look silly in your attempt assuming the kit is well developed)

Another reason.... none S 997 narrow bodied car walking the stiff *** in newer more $$ car...IMO the sleeper factor is a nice option!!! Maybe worth the price of admission for many right there. On the track of course as I do not condone street racing....

Finally for the track junkies have the fun of getting to know a new car, power bands, driving etc for lighter buy in the purchasing a whole new car etc.....

Lots of good reasons to explore this kit and great to see a lower priced option out there then RUF sc kit (+30K for a SC set up with less power) as much as I love RUF.

Gotta laugh when I see so many people negative about a very cool mod for the Porsche...

2 cents.....

you are missing lack of desire to spend $80K on something one can get for $10K add-on.

See tons of posts for people bucking up 2-3K for an exhaust system and hope it adds the advertised 15 hp. Makes the turbo setup seems like a bargain. I am considering sending the car to TPC next winter for the upgrade.

Another factor that seems to pass the OP by is that once you mod a 997 like that you will never be able to get your money out of it. The next owner will want an unmolested 997--not one with a questionable past.

I hear you. But I guessvmy point was that I am over modifications for raw horsepower. By this I mean two things, first really learning to drive the car will provide much more satisfaction. Until I am driving the wheels off the carrera as is on the track adding power not useful to me. Second engineers at Porsche or other manufacturers I find are generally much better than most tuners. So if I think the carrera is not "fast" enough for me and I can not afford a turbo then there are alternatives I.e. A Corvette Z06. Just a thought.

if you plan on keeping the car - it makes total sense to put turbo on it
I dont agree with this at all. There is NOT total sense in putting a turbo on it.
In my case the 997.2 PDK has almost 400 hp. My 993TT had 400 hp and not as quick
My 996 GT3 was slower than this C2S. The PDK has better Ring times than both of those cars.
Putting on the turbo puts everything in the motor at risk, over 25% increased power (if their numbers
are right) for what? Do you know how many people who track their cars can honestly use 525hp?
For that type of cost(10k) and that much risk to a component failure of the motor.
5% of people who track could use this power over 400hp could probably be better.

This Carrera C2S PDK is just about as perfect as you can get with sport or sport plus modes.
Just fantastic. No reason to blow up the motor. Its just not productive to chase these type
of speed fairies. This car is good enough for 99% of the sports car enthusiast.

Having said all that, I would like to know the difference between a 9A1 normally aspirated version
and the TT 9A1 verions outside of the turbos, intercoolers and associated exhaust parts.
