Yup, ordered a 2011 C4S last week with a July delivery. I love the current styling and would rather not be a beta tester for a new platform.

Think about this situation if it had been 1998 and it was 993 vs. 996....

If you like the 997, do it - it's a great car. If you're really worried, lease it.

What I would do in your shoes:
(assume that you want to custom-order a car)

* Try to find out how long order entry will be open for the 2011 cars
* If you have some time, wait for more details on the 2012 models
(a) if 2012 looks better for you, wait for 2013 (don't buy the first model year)
(b) if 2012 looks worse, go ahead and pull the trigger on your 2011.

Well, IMO if there's strong indications 991 is coming out at the end of 2011 (MY 2012), I wouldn't order a 2011 997.2 and wait for 991. I guess it depends if you can wait that long? Maybe do a pre-owned 997.1 in between not to get hit with brand new premium pricing twice!

I am perfectly happy with 997.1 and will skip 997.2 completely until 991 arrives!

And then, as I recall, you will have to wait at least a couple of years to see how the new car works out... as you lack confidence on first year production.

Bought first years production (2005) and it's been basically trouble free.

Personally I would wait for the 991.

For me, one year wait, my 997 will do fine! Won't be the first on the block that's for sure. Probably order MY2013 to be delivered in 2012.

For OP, probably he would/should pre-order as he doesn't have a 911 now If I didn't have a 911, might risk the first-year troubles to pick one up.

Quick Reply: 2011 orders are being taken now, prolly the last year for 997,hmmm
