Default '06 997S Extended Warranty & items to check

1. Car is about to go out of warranty. Any opinions on getting an extended warranty?

2. I'm bringing it in for service soon, anything I should have them check out as a preventative to cover under the present warranty?

Thanks!

EasyCare. $200 deductible x 3 - 5 years. I purchased a 3 year policy 5 months ago for my 06. Used it once already for a cracked flywheel. The local Porsche dealer carries it. The one requirement is to purchase it before the original warranty runs out. How long ago did it run out?

I have a plan from Fidelity. 4yr/48,000 mi GoldPlus plan; $2800 with $100 deductible. They have 5 levels, Powertrain, Silver, Gold, GoldPlus and Platinum.

Currently going through a positive first-hand experience dealing with Warranty Direct. In one incident alone, the warranty has paid for itself and has saved me several thousand dollars on top...

I have the Platinum from Fidelity, was only a little bit more than what TAI2 paid for GoldPlus. The car has been perfect and has needed nothing. Time will tell whether I make my money back, but the peace of mind is worth it.

Unfortunately, extended warranties don't cover non-mechanical but expensive cosmetic problems, like peeling soft-touch paint on climate temp and fan speed controls. This assembly is around $600 for the part, plus labor to fix.
